Timeless Paradise

The Ocean Club’s legacy of luxury endures.

The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, Bahamas (fourseasons.com) opened in 1962, staking claim to five miles of natural, white-sand beachfront and 35 acres of tiered, Versailles-inspired gardens—crowned by the dramatic arches of a 12th-century Augustinian cloister. Today the 107-room icon, immortalized in two James Bond films and long favored by the world’s glitterati, remains a benchmark for tropical escapes, just 200 nautical miles from US shores.

Among its many identities, The Ocean Club has become synonymous with wellness. Sprawling grounds and an intentionally low room count leave ample time and space to wander the gardens, unwind by the adults-only Versailles or beachfront pools, and walk the shoreline.

Guests can in turn focus their time visiting the Mandara Spa, a retreat of coconut forests, Balinese-inspired villas, and an outdoor “jungle gym.” Each treatment begins with a chilled pour of native bush tea (a blend of moringa, fever grass, and hibiscus—believed to purify skin, replenish moisture, and boost immunity). The Fire & Ice Massage uses heated basalt stones, ice-cold gels, and melted paraffin to gently detoxify the body and ease aching muscles, and during the Coconut Poultice Massage, Frangipani monoi body oil and warm coconut compresses dissolve tension.

For those who like to stay active, the resort provides regular fitness classes, complimentary non-motorized water sports in the calm lagoon, and bike rentals ideal for exploring the vast property, greater Paradise Island, and capital city Nassau.
